SAFE member Rose Dorcey, president of the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame and associate editor of EAA Sport Aviation, was recently honored as Aviation Person of the Year. Rose was recognized for her organization and execution of last year’s Centennial of Flight celebrations in Wisconsin.
The award was one of five presented at the 55th Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference sponsored by the Wisconsin Airport Management Association, Wisconsin Aviation Exhibitors and Consultants Association, Wisconsin Aviation Trades Association, and Wisconsin Business Aviation Association. Presented annually since 1969, the Aviation Person of the Year award is the oldest of the conference awards. The list of past recipients includes Paul Poberezny, Steve Wittman, Tom Poberezny, and Jeff Skiles (copilot of US Airways 1549), among others.
Rose’s husband, John Dorcey serves on the SAFE Board of Directors.
