Join the 2026 SAFE Board of Directors

Each year, three openings come up within the 9 positions on the board, as a current member has their three-year term expire. Since members are limited to two terms, turnover happens at a regular cadence, with the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way open to anyone within the SAFE membership with a desire to lead and learn from others.
The commitment is generally limited to one 2-hour board meeting each month, typically held in the evening but adjustable by current board members to suit everyone’s schedule and ensure a quorum. Additionally, each member serves on one or more committees, and those time commitments range from 5-10 hours each months. Board members are also expected to attend airshows and other events in support of SAFE as their schedule permits, and they are generally reimbursed for travel expenses. Board members are governed by SAFE policies in the current manual, which can be obtained here.

We would love to have at least three additional candidates for the election, to ensure we give the members who are interested in serving the opportunity to do so. Please indicate your interest by sending an email to: webmaster@safepilots.org with your general background and specific talents to apply to the board. We seek board members with finance and accounting management, legal, maintenance, and/or ATC backgrounds in particular to add your expertise to the group. We will schedule you for an initial interview once we receive your desire to run.
