We’ve all heard the cliché: “If you want to make a million dollars in aviation … start with five!” Well SAFE Charter Member and Master Instructor Linda Scully is disproving that oft-repeated phrase. She recently was named a winner in the “Make Mine a Million Dollar Business” contest sponsored by American Express and its Open Forum for Small Business. Linda is president of Aero Safety Training flight school on New Jersey’s Lincoln Park Airport (N07). Her flight school currently has five airplanes and 10 instructors, and last year moved into a new facility equipped with a state-of-the-art flight simulator.
Linda has utilized thinking outside of the box to come up with some innovative marketing ideas, such as using the simulator to expand into children’s programs, birthday parties, and even classes geared toward reducing the fear of flying.
