Volunteer for OSH Pilot Proficiency Center Your Expertise is Needed!

We are issuing a call for professional CFIs to staff the EAA Pilot Proficiency Center at AirVenture 2017.
The EAA PPC will operate Monday July 24th through Sunday July 30th. As in the past there will be two 4-hour sessions each day. A morning session from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and an afternoon session from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. 32 flight instructors are needed each day, 14 CFIs for each session to operate Redbird LDs and 2 CFIs in the Ready Room each session to assist pilots in selecting the scenarios they would like to fly.
To volunteer for this year’s EAA Pilot Proficiency Center please fill out the online EAA PPC 2017 CFI Application.  The PPC will again feature “Tech Talks, VFR and IFR flight scenarios in Redbird Flight AATDs, the opportunity to work with certificated flight instructors and more.
This year’s goal is to improve the overall quality of the PPC. This will be accomplished in part by refining the functionality of the simulators, offering a central focus on LOC (loss of control), improving the instructor pre-event and on-site training experience, and emphasizing to pilots that their experience at the PPC is a viable training method that can be applied at home, year round.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s new for 2017.
->PPC website. Here you can find details and resources for the scenarios and we will steadily add more material and information on the site as it becomes available.
->We’re making room for more simulators by replacing the Redbird MCX (full-motion sim) with two more Redbird LD’s.
->All of the Redbird LD simulators will be capable of presenting LOC (loss of control) training scenarios.
->Redbird Flight Simulations has recently updated the Navigator instructor station with a new interface that has more options.
->The PPC will be open Saturday and Sunday, July 22 & 23, before the show for CFI orientation and training. Come early, get the orientation and fly the scenarios.
->Pilot training sessions will be one-hour blocks including pre and post flight briefings. Each instructor will be assigned a specific simulator station for their shift, which will serve as their “office for conducting the pre and post flight briefings as well as for flying the scenarios..
->Throughout the event week we will feature a Scenario of the Day.
The EAA Pilot Proficiency Center is dedicated to improving the skills of pilots and participating CFIs. The Pilot Proficiency Center is open to all certificated pilots who want to improve their flying skills as well as to CFIs that want to improve their teaching skills. It will feature both IFR and stick & rudder flight challenges, seminar presentations and instructor training.
Thousands of pilots have participated in the flight simulations, seminars, and other activities of the Proficiency Center that expanded their knowledge, their flying skills and built their confidence to handle specific situations they face while flying. This included pilots who sought to enhance their instrument flying abilities as well as those seeking to improve their stick-and-rudder skills.
Along with EAA and the EAA IMC Club, the EAA Pilot Proficiency Center is supported by Hartzell Propellers, Redbird Flight Simulations, AOPA, David Clark, Community Aviation, Jeppesen, Mindstar Aviation, NAFI, PilotEdge, Pilot Workshops, Plane and Pilot and SAFE.
