Q & A

What drew you to aviation? A life-long exposure to it, and as a Search and Rescue volunteer, found a dream to help others as a Helicopter EMS Pilot.  Left 12 years in the corporate world to pursue this.

How long have you been involved in aviation education? Since May 2010

What’s your favorite part of what you do in aviation education? Seeing someone grasp the wonder and fascination of aviation.

What’s your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education? Seeing some that do it just to “get their hours”, without the focus on quality and the importance it should be shown.

Do you have a memorable aviation experience you’d like to share? Flying through the Utah mountains, looking over to see some Red Tail hawks flying alongside, not far away.

Why did you join SAFE? To be the best, safest pilot and Instructor I can be.

What would you like to see change in aviation? More experienced pilots involved in Mentoring and Education, to pass along their hard-earned experience.

Any suggestions on how the above might be accomplished? Mentoring 1on1; panels & forums – email or web-based.  Anonymous FAQ or “Ask an Expert” that could be posted on the website.

Any accomplishments in, or noteworthy contributions to aviation and/or aviation education you’d like to mention? I’m helping many former military use their GI Bill to become aviators, and hold Youth Aviation Career Days for High School students at our Flight School.

Who are your role models in aviation? Any experienced, safe pilot who is willing to teach!

Anything else you’d like to add? Thanks for a great organization!  I’m glad to be a part of it.
