Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited aviation program
  • Certificated to provide flight instruction to Student Pilots, with a minimum of three students who successfully completed training through certification as Private Pilots
  • Knowledge of front desk dispatching and computer billing skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to commit to one year in the intern program

Director, Pilot Community Development

The Director of Pilot Community Development (PCD) is responsible for providing the day-to-day leadership of programs designed to bring new pilots into the general aviation community and keep current pilots active and engaged.  The position provides strategic direction and action in areas related to the flying club initiative, flight training initiative and Rusty Pilots program.  The Director of Pilot Community Development also works closely with the “You Can Fly” Ambassadors to ensure they have the expert support from headquarters needed to provide valuable assistance to flying clubs and flight schools and to ensure that the programs and resources developed by the Pilot Community Development department are promoted and implemented by the ambassadors. The Director of Pilot Community Development will provide daily oversight of team members in the pilot community development department.  This position reports to the AOPA Senior Vice President of Communications in Frederick, MD.  Duties: Lead the creation, evaluation and prioritization of current and new programs and initiatives in three core programs:

  • Flying Club Initiative
  • Flight School Initiative
  • Rusty Pilots
  • Routinely collect and analyze metrics and data that point directly to AOPA’s impact through these initiatives.  Consistently refine survey and data collection processes.
  • Provide and coordinate all AOPA internal relationships necessary to support the program, including but not limited to internal production request coordination, online content management, schedule monitoring, and budget tracking.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Ambassador of the You Can Fly program to:
  • Ensure Ambassadors have resources and deep knowledge of programs developed by the PCD department
  • Ensure Ambassadors have direct line to PCD managers and subject matter experts at headquarters

  • Travel as necessary to attend meetings, host events, and make presentations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or ten + years of industry experience in an aviation related position.
  • Solid management experience and track record in motivating and building strong teams comprised of competent and highly capable individuals.
  • Proven track record of executing creative approaches and innovative strategies in order to promote ideas and advance programs/concepts.
  • Prior success in developing strong external and internal collaborative relationships.

Senior Ambassador, You Can Fly

The AOPA Senior Ambassador will be responsible for providing the day-to-day leadership of AOPA’s You Can Fly initiative, which is designed to improve the general aviation experience for all types of current and future pilots through AOPA’s pilot community development programs (Flying Clubs initiative, Flight Training initiative, Rusty Pilots program, Reimagined Aircraft). The senior ambassador, in addition to two full-time and two part-time regional ambassadors, will help pilots and future pilots take advantage of more affordable ways to fly, find easier entry points into aviation, and become part of a more connected GA community. AOPA believes the ambassador cadre will play a key and fundamental role in inviting and inspiring more people to become active participants in the general aviation community.  The senior ambassador will help build this program over time into a highly-effective nation-wide initiative. The senior ambassador will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the day to day management of the four other “You Can Fly” ambassadors. This position reports to the AOPA senior vice president of communications in Frederick, MD. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manage and lead the day-to-day “You Can Fly” program plan as it relates to the Ambassadors work in the field, develop daily work processes, select and deploy customer relationship management program, build a reporting process, etc.

  7. Engage on a regular basis with flying clubs, flight schools, high schools, and airports in the area surrounding Frederick (Maryland,Virginia, Pennsylvania, etc…) to achieve personal ambassador goals such as helping to develop new flying clubs, improve student pilot completion rate, etc..
  8. Travel as necessary via 152 Reimagined Aircraft to act as a You Can Fly ambassador, attend meetings, host events, and make presentations.
  9. Lead the talent and performance management processes that measure and evaluate progress and performance against organizational goals.

DIRECTOR OF FLIGHT OPERATIONS Kansas State University Salina is seeking a Director of Flight Operations to join our team.  This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports directly to the CEO and Dean of the campus.  This position is responsible for managing the daily operations within the flight department.  The individual will work with departmental staff to manage the flight operations budget and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines and university policy.  This individual will be responsible for approximately 50 staff.
