Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute towards a team effort through coordinating with multiple departments to ensure a safe, efficient and profitable operationSeek to serve Rainier’s customers with the highest quality of customer service
  • Act as a liaison with FAA per 14 CFR 141 in the absence of the Chief Flight Instructor
    Indoctrinate and provide training to Flight Operations Staff ensuring high level of knowledge, proficiency and training excellence
  • Observe training flights to evaluate Flight Instructor performance and strive for continuous improvement
    Collect and analyze safety reports.
  • Coordinate with Chief Flight Instructor to recommend improvements enhancing operational safety and efficiency to the Owner
  • Audit training records and documentation to ensure compliance with FAA and TSA regulations
  • Perform duties as assigned by Chief Flight Instructor

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Maintain current CFI certificate
  • Meet the requirements of 14 CFR 141.36 – Assistant Chief Instructor Qualifications
  • Ability to manage effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Available by phone 24/7 as emergency contact

  • Develop management skills for the implementation and oversight of effective and efficient standardization of all ground and flight instruction courses in accordance with FAA Part 61 requirements.
  • Assist the chief instructor in updating and standardizing private, instrument, and commercial pilot course materials, and coordinate same with flight school instructors.
  • Experience facility management including: construction and runway overlay projects, hangar maintenance, grounds keeping, runway approach clearance and PAPI system operations, AWOS and basic pilot aid operation, fuel farm management with exposure to all regulations and paperwork requirements.
  • Support operations management including: hangar rental system, on-site contract negotiations, and familiarization with skydiving, aerial photography, and maintenance operations.
  • Teach and develop products associated with the airport’s successful “STEM through the lens of aviation” community outreach program.
  • Revise airport business plan and operations manual, including incorporating new educational components
  • Building knowledge/relationships with local/state agencies/boards required to operate airport.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited aviation program
  • Certificated to provide flight instruction to Student Pilots, with a minimum of three students who successfully completed training through certification as Private Pilots
  • Knowledge of front desk dispatching and computer billing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to commit to one year in the intern program

Physical Requirements

  • Subsidized on-airport housing

DIRECTOR OF FLIGHT OPERATIONS Kansas State University Salina is seeking a Director of Flight Operations to join our team.  This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports directly to the CEO and Dean of the campus.  This position is responsible for managing the daily operations within the flight department.  The individual will work with departmental staff to manage the flight operations budget and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines and university policy.  This individual will be responsible for approximately 50 staff.
