WOW, it has been years since I saw Don. He was still a kid when I moved to Quincy after high school. I knew he was into planes as he grew up, but had no idea to this extent, pretty neat.

It is a huge privilege to be an aviation educator. Not only is it personally satisfying to participate in the transformation of your learner into a savvy, safe, aviator, it is an opportunity to learn and grow personally!  Great educators are usually also “passionate learners!”

Those who dig deep and learn the next steps rather that just “filling the seat building hours”learn more rapidly (and gain personal skill and knowledge) They will also be the successful job candidates for future employment with the airlines or charter operators (or be chosen as FAA DPEs). #SAFEtoolkit #CFIpro #flySAFE #MasterCFI #FAA #SAFEpilots

We have to be honest here, a brand-new CFI with perhaps 5 hours of real solo and maybe 250 hours total time (in only 2 or 3 aircraft) is not an impressive aviator or trusted educator. This can an opportunity for growth! https://bit.ly/CFI-Survive

It takes some real humility, dedication, and work to grow into an effective educator that clients will trust and benefit from. We use the term “flying” pretty generously. Sometimes we are “programming and riding” and the autopilot does the real work. Ironically, this is mostly “professional pilots” in fancy jets. Hand-flying a basic piston twin requires much more piloting skill than an “app-driven” jet🤣 Get back to the basics for safety! #SAFEtoolkit #CFIpro #flySAFE #MasterCFI #FAA #SAFEpilots

Murphy’s (real) law seems to be that we often succeed *despite poor procedures* and sloppy execution (luck)🤮 https://bit.ly/SAFE-Luck  It is only the painful failure that stimulates reflection and results in learning; ouch! 

In most cases, “lucky success” actually reinforces and “normalizes” questionable procedures and activities so they persist (no real learning). 

Popular online stupidity provides an additional catalog of “leveraged luck.” Just because some wild act worked once (or for one person in a well-rehearsed YouTube environment) does not mean it is a good idea or solid procedure for us (please watch those “fail” videos too). #SAFEtoolkit #CFIpro #flySAFE #MasterCFI #FAA #SAFEpilots
